FRENCH CAMP DRIVING TOUR - JUNE 12th

Our June driving event is scheduled for Saturday, June 12th. We will meet at 9:00 a.m. for a brief drivers meeting (location TBD). We will be taking a scenic drive up the Natchez Trace to historic French Camp, Mississippi (Milepost 180.7). We will eat lunch at the Council House Cafe. They offer sandwiches made on their... homemade bread. For a complete menu and prices, please see http://www.frenchcamp.org/NatchezTrace_site/cafe.html. Everyone will have a little time to tour the historic village to see how quilts are pieced together and how a family lived in the 19th century. There are several sights to visit including: the Colonel James Drane Home, Greenwood Leflore's horse-drawn carriage, a museum, and a gift shop.

From French Camp we will drive a little farther north to the Jeff Busby Site (Milepost 193.1) where we will drive to the top of Little Mountain, one of the highest points in the state. At 603 feet above sea level, you can see about 20 miles on a clear day. Afterwards, we will return to Jackson along the Natchez Trace and arrive by late afternoon.

We have invited a local Mercedes group to join us on this drive. We hope you'll come out to meet other European car enthusiasts.

Please reply if you will be able to attend so we can let the restaurant know how many to expect. We look forward to seeing you on June 12!!!

Red Bluff Road Driving Tour - May 15th

We have planned a day trip traveling in the south part of Mississippi. The highlight of this spirited drive will be Highway 587 (Red Bluff Road), one of the best driving roads in the state. We will start in Florence, MS at Hemphill Park at 9:30 a.m. with a brief drivers meeting before we head out. We will travel south along some curvy back roads until we reach Monticello and start our trip down Red Bluff Road. Lunch will be at Lynn's family's camp in Kokomo, MS. (DISCLAIMER: There is a gravel drive about a 1/2 mile long leading up to the cabin. However, Tommy has never had a problem driving either of his cars (Boxster S and 914) on the gravel.) We will be having pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, chips and dessert. Lunch will be provided for Porsche Club Members; non-members please bring $5 per person to cover cost of lunch. There is a large pond stocked with bass and brim at the camp. If you would like to fish, you are welcome to cast a line after lunch. There is an assortment of rods and reels at the cabin for you to use. After lunch we will head back up Highway 587 and return to Florence by late afternoon (approx. 5:00 p.m.).

Please RSVP by Tuesday, May 11th so we know how many to plan on for lunch. We look forward to seeing you there!!
